Secure your brand assets | Register your .au domain today
.au domain names have arrived. These domains (yourbusiness.au) are shorter, simpler domain names that will be available as a new option for Australian businesses from March 2022.
.au direct names are general purpose – they’re open to anyone with a verified connection to Australia who wants to create or manage an online presence for themselves or their organisation.
Priority Allocation
Registrants of existing com.au, net.au, org.au, asn.au, id.au, gov.au and edu.au domain names will be able to participate in the Priority Allocation Process, which runs from 24 March to 20 September 2022. The six-month period is known as the Priority Application Period.
If you currently hold a domain name in any other .au namespace (ie com.au, asn.au etc.) you’ll be able to apply for Priority Status to register its exact match in .au direct during this period.
Why is it important to secure your .au domain?
It all comes down to protecting your brand. If you choose not to claim ownership of your .au domain someone else, perhaps a competitor, will be able to.
What is the cost?
Webhance Digital does not charge a fee to claim Priority Status for your .au domain. Annual fee to register this domain and have it directed to your website is $75.
